Farrah Khaleghi, Psy.D.
Dr. Khaleghi began working with Creative Care in 2018 after training at West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Harbor-UCLA, and the Union Rescue Mission. Dr. Khaleghi holds her doctorate in clinical psychology and is a licensed clinical psychologist. She has expertise working from psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theoretical orientations, in addition to expertise in acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Dr. Khaleghi believes in joining with Clients in their journey and providing a reliable, nurturing, and empathic environment. As the eldest of Dr. K and Dr. Karen Khaleghi, Dr. Khaleghi is honored to be part of the Creative Care community.
Alexandra Edwards, Psy.D, LMFT
Dr. Edwards began working with Creative Care in 1997 at its original mental health facility in Northridge, CA. Dr. Edwards holds her doctorate in psychology and is a licensed MFT. She has expertise with diverse populations and has worked with inpatient mental health, substance use disorders, high-risk youth and their families, and in private practice/ outpatient mental health treatment. Dr. Edwards was instrumental in opening Creative Care Calabasas and acts as the Clinical Director. She works closely with Clients and their families as well as supervises the clinical, medical, and administrative staff. Dr. Edwards is passionate about the mental health population, strongly believing in a person’s capacity to move beyond suffering when in an environment conducive to healing.
Justin Huft, LMFT
Justin holds a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, and a master’s degree in sociology. He is certified in substance abuse disorders and LGBT-affirmative psychotherapy and is a certified clinical sociologist. Justin has worked with personality disorders, mood disorders, trauma, dual diagnosis, and Clients in crisis in a variety of settings, including crisis shelters, community clinics, and schools. He has presented his research on gender, sexuality, bibliotherapy, and relationship quality at conferences around the country. He specializes in clinical sociology and feminist-experiential therapy.
Annie L. Newman, AMFT
Annie received her M.A. in clinical psychology from Antioch University. Her work integrates therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, trauma therapy, and mindfulness while incorporating logotherapy (the third Viennese school of psychotherapy) and existential approaches. Since 1995, she has had a spiritual counseling and healing practice, which includes evolutionary astrology, meditation, and vibrational essence therapy. Annie is completing her certification in logotherapy from the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy.
Annie is also a graduate of the Institute for Psycho-Structural Balancing (IPSB) in Los Angeles, CA, is a certified Reiki Master, massage therapist, and Aura-Soma color therapist. Her learning has also included T’ai Chi Ch’uan, body psychology, anatomy/physiology, and polarity-energy balancing. Annie was Managing Director of the International Medical Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Daniel Son, M.D.
Dr. Daniel Son came to Creative Care with an extensive background and training in many different psychotherapies, including psychodynamic, CBT, family therapy, and recovery dynamic therapy. He has won numerous teaching awards and has also completed 2 specialty Fellowship training in both Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry, making him one of the few psychiatrists in the nation that have done so. Dr. Son’s experience sets him apart in that he is currently involved in recent diagnostic research. As a consultant for Creative Care, he can provide detoxification – including suboxone detox – as well as provide psychiatric assessments for all our Clients. He works together with the Client, families, and treatment team to ensure the best possible care for the Client.
Danna Engelberg, PMHNP-BC, LMFT
Danna began working at Creative Care in 2006 at its original Northridge mental health facility. In 2008, she graduated from Pepperdine University with her master’s degree in clinical psychology and achieved her marriage & family therapy license from the State of California in 2011. With the desire to be able to treat and help Clients from a well-rounded perspective, Danna went back to school and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing in 2014, both from California State University Long Beach. In 2015, she became a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Danna uses her skills, education, and passion to provide a biopsychosocial approach to the treatment of our Clients.
Minh Ann Lee, RN
Minh earned her Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) from Valley School of Allied Health. She completed her Registered Nurse (RN) degree in 2018 and has an active license in California. She has a vast array of experience in all aspects of mental health, recovery, geriatric, convalescent nursing homes, home health, and sub-acute care. She volunteered her time to the community, local hospitals, and with the American Red Cross. Minh’s combination of experience, knowledge, and compassion brings depth and insight to any dilemma.
Amy Sekhon, RN
Daniel Hai, Psy.D.
Dr. Daniel Hai is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist who combines the latest research with the knowledge he has gained in his years of practice and lifelong study of both western and eastern psychotherapy treatments. His practice incorporates a humanistic approach that recognizes the uniqueness of each individual. Custom assessments and treatment plans are one way this approach is evident in his practice. Instead of treating a diagnosis, Dr. Hai’s treatment plans consider the whole person from a holistic view that seeks to identify and resolve the root of the problem rather than just treat symptoms.
Dr. Hai’s Neuro Cognitive Therapy is a proprietary treatment developed as a result of years of practice and study. Drawing from multiple disciplines including neuropsychology, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness principles, Lurian research, attachment theory, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
Dr. Hai received professional experience, training, and education at Berkeley, Cal State University, Northridge, Neuropsychology Clinics, UCLA, Fielding, Ryokan College, School of Forensic Studies, and Cedars Sinai. His post-doctoral clinical neuropsychology degree was obtained from Fielding Graduate University.
Dr. Hai provides training and treatment. His clinical experiences include treatment for violent adults. Furthermore, he runs adolescent and adult female and male therapy groups that focus on family dynamics, self-harm prevention, cognitive rehabilitation, mood regulation, and trauma coping strategies. Dr. Hai is a published author and editor.
Jessica Borboa, AMFT
Jessica graduated with her master’s degree in psychology with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University. She is currently a registered AMFT with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Jessica came to Creative Care with background and training in areas including psychodynamic theory, CBT, mindfulness/meditation, family therapy, school-based therapy and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Jess Perez, AMFT
Jessica Perez (Jess) graduated with her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy with an emphasis in clinical counseling from Touro University. She is currently a registered AMFT and APCC with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Jess came to Creative Care with a background and training in areas including psychodynamic theory, crisis intervention, CBT, mindfulness/meditation, couples’ therapy, and individual therapy.
Jill’s passion lies in serving the mental health community. In 2013, she earned her certification as a peer counselor from the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Jill acquired an education in diversity through working in community mental health centers with multicultural populations. She has experience running support groups that promote the development of skills such as problem-solving techniques and healthy coping tools. Jill finds purpose in helping Clients foster hope and empowerment and identifying the positive qualities within themselves.
Janet Moran, CADC-II, ICADC
Janet has over 19 years of experience working in the field of mental health and substance use disorders. She obtained her first job in recovery working for a non-profit organization in 1997. She went on to earn an international certification as a drug and alcohol counselor. In 2000, Janet joined the staff at the original Creative Care Northridge’s mental healthfFacility. Through her journey, she has acquired experience, education and an understanding of the relationship between drugs, alcohol and mental health disorders. Creative Care is grateful to have Janet as a part of the Calabasas family guiding our clients towards hope.
Jennifer Winchester, CADC II
Jennifer began working in substance use treatment in 2011; joining the Creative Care family in 2013. She was drawn to Creative Care for its dual diagnosis philosophy due to her own familial history. She started as a resident advisor earning the positions of staff counselor, shift lead, and finally her current role as an admissions coordinator. Jennifer loves being the first voice that families hear and connect with, creating a space of safety and hope as they prepare for the next steps. Giving back and helping others are her passion and purpose along with her own recovery and being a loving wife and mother to her family.
Katy Eyer, Director of Clinical Outreach
Katy is a San Fernando Valley native and recovering alcoholic who fostered a passion for recovery from her experience and journey to seek a better life free from the grips of addiction. She earned her first position in the field of recovery in 2012 as a counselor at Creative Care Malibu. While working at Creative Care, Katy attended the Addiction Studies Program at Pierce College through its completion. She obtained her certification as a drug and alcohol counselor. Katy moved on to gain diversity and expand her skill-set working with the LGBTQ, HIV+, homeless, and post-incarcerated demographic. Her passion for serving those with mental health issues and substance use disorders continued to grow throughout her experience. Katy’s dedication to serving the community by building relationships has led her back to Creative Care as the Director of Outreach. She promises to support each client to obtain the individual care they need and deserve and make sure each Client has a smooth transition in the next part of their journey to recovery and healing. She is currently working towards her BA in Psychology.
Tiffany Kessler came to Creative Care Malibu in 2014 to join our administration team as an executive administrator and excels in organization and detail-oriented work. She helps manage our Human Resource Department and Insurance Department as well as scheduling for Dr. K. Tiffany remains excited to bring all her skills to the team to keep us running efficiently.
Lisa has over 8 years of social work experience working with vulnerable populations and served in both a case manager and program manager capacity. Lisa’s ongoing passion to collaborate and cultivate best practice protocols is what is the driving force behind her role at Creative Care Inc.
