Drug and Alcohol Rehab at Creative Care

Our Drug and Alcohol Rehab is part of one of the best Dual Diagnosis Treatment Programs in LA county

The drug and alcohol rehab component of Creative Care’s Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program is individualized to meet the needs of each client. As a matter of fact, immediately upon arrival, clients can expect to be welcomed by a full team of expert, compassionate professionals, including our clinical director, psychiatrist, registered nurses, therapists and counselors, and all other ancillary staff members.

Twice per week, Creative Care holds our Clinical Treatment Team Meeting. At these times, the team executes a “deep dive” where we discuss each client at length to explore their development and augment their treatment plan according to the evolving clinical picture. Treatment involves a progression through several stages of care. Moreover, the evolution through each of these stages will be personal and specific to each client. However, the Creative Care Clinical philosophy pioneered by Dr. K will be the compass that guides them through each step.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab at Creative Care

Creative Care honors the individual on the path to recovery. Unfortunately, a one-size-fits-all approach inevitably glosses over each client’s individual needs. Conversely, Creative Care takes a different approach. For example, we orient each client’s action plan around their specific needs in a highly-individualized process. Accordingly, this makes each phase of treatment at Creative Care unique to each client.

While each client’s journey may be unique, there are some elements that are common to all tracks of treatment. For instance, each client can expect three 50-minute individual sessions with their primary therapist each week. Furthermore, clients will have one individual session with their secondary counselor during the same period. Finally, clients will have sessions with Creative Care’s psychiatrist up to three times per week, depending upon their needs.

Family Therapy and Twelve-Step Traditions

Family involvement and therapy are beneficial additions to a client’s treatment plan. Members of the family who choose to be involved in a client’s treatment can anticipate an appointment with the primary therapist each week as well as family therapy when applicable. Involvement is, of course, dependent upon the wishes of client and family and each will work with the client’s therapist to determine their own level of involvement including individual family sessions and group therapy attendance.

Creative Care believes that the twelve-step traditions are useful as a structured set of guidelines for battling the chaos of addiction. Clients incorporate these traditions into their clinical treatment plan through sponsorship and daily twelve-step meetings. There are, of course, alternatives to twelve-step programs and clients are welcome to explore these and discuss with their therapists how these can augment and complement their treatment plans. However, we still respectfully require twelve-step participation of each client during their time at Creative Care.

The Client-Therapist Relationship

At the core of every successful recovery path is the client-therapist relationship. Knowing that this is the most essential component of a treatment plan,  Creative Care employs the most expertly-trained and compassionate therapists in the industry. Indeed, each of our therapists has an arsenal of the most cutting-edge therapeutic modalities and treatment methods to address each client’s individual needs.

The primary therapists of Creative Care are involved in every aspect and detail of the client’s treatment plan. For example, this ranges from their individual and family therapy sessions to crisis and case management, including legal and vocational issues, and beyond.

A Complete Diagnostic Picture

This type of hands-on involvement is key in providing the most complete diagnostic picture for each of their clients. Once this personal snapshot is established, the therapist can begin to walk their client through the internalized pain that has been lurking beneath their addiction for years. After reaching the core of this trauma, client begin the healing process in earnest, seeing addiction as merely a symptom of their deeper pain.

Once clients see that their trauma was at the heart of their addiction, the client can begin reclaim the power that their disease sapped from them. At this time, clients start to understand their triggers and faulty coping mechanisms. Next, their therapists then step in with healthy alternatives to help their clients manage the stresses of day-to-day life without drugs and alcohol. It is at this point that co-occurring mental health issues can be addressed. Furthermore, we offer physical activities in order to reinvigorate the body and provide an outlet for the uncovered mind.

Therapeutic approaches will include, but are not limited to:

  • 12-Step Groups
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Expressive Arts & Groups utilizing Music and Art
  • Attachment-Based Psychotherapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
