Camila started working at Creative Care in 2016 as a staff counselor, earning her way to her current position as the Alumni Coordinator. Her passion for helping others began when she worked at a non-profit, in the Bronx of New York City, where she helped 1st time offenders from Riker’s Island reintegrate back into society. Housed in a primarily latino neighborhood, this non-profit organization helps both offenders and their families through a variety of services. There, Camila was able to assist social workers and psychologists, and learned primary social work care feeding her passion to move on and become a clinician. Camila has a B.A. in Sociology from St.John’s University and a Master’s Degree in Psychology, specializing in trauma, from Antioch University. Her goal is to obtain her license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, work with those suffering from PTSD, and make a positive difference in their lives. Camila’s main motivation to be in this field is through her own personal experiences; witnessing directly the impact Creative Care has on a person’s life. These experiences have changed and taught her the beauty and vast importance of helping people directly.
